I’ve been lucky to work with SPQR Pizzeria for a few years now, first capturing shots of their restaurant in Liverpool Street in Melbourne’s CBD and now in their recently opened second restaurant in Studio Lane at the Docklands. It’s great to see these guys expand their business which offers us quality food in now two creative environments which have clearly supported local artists. Just check out the colourful graffiti art that beautifully decorates both businesses done by various Melbourne based artists.
The images I’ve captured for SPQR help to showcase the feel and vibe of their restaurants, from events like DJ scratch battles (care of the Skratcher Melbourne crew), to showing the energy of a busy restaurant, the quality of customer service they provide, their staff at work baking their tradition style Italian sourdough pizzas in wood-fired ovens and the various guest DJs spinning vinyl offering customers quality funk’n’soul, break beats, hip hop and Afro beats as they sit down to enjoy their meals.
Their Docklands pizzeria not only brings sourdough woodfire pizza to the locals but also allows you to watch the chefs shape and ferment each pizza which comes from its seventeen-year-old sourdough mother.
So if you’re after some great pizza, a cool crew, a few colds beers (or wine) and some dope beats, let the guys at SPQR at the Docklands provide it for you!
It’s well worth it.
